Fiber Protection – Cable Waterfalls

Radius Control Modules (RCMs) aka cable waterfalls prevent fiber macro-bends and data loss while also controlling and managing cabling.

They are important as fiber damage happens all too frequently. A fiber cable gets kinked in the server room or as it is fed through a conduit—simple everyday issues.

Failure to maintain the minimum bend radius compromises signal integrity, leading to lost data, slower data, lower speeds, or at the extreme, network failure.

Device Technologies (DTi) has 4 key tools to prevent these problems They help data centers increase network agility, cabling density, and overall dependability while supporting system uptime and lower operation costs

4 Key Tools for Seamless Data Protection

1. Standard Fast-Drop® RCM

The standard Fast-Drop RCM is a versatile product that can be used as a single stand-alone cable waterfall, or combined as a spool, or set up as an array.

Its patented clip-on mount design allows fast and easy installation, saving time and money in both new setups and refits.

The 321 Series fits standard U-height racks, holds large bundles, and can snap onto edges up to 0.104″ (2.7mm). Added features include adjustable service loops and stackable options via its slotted side design.

2. High Sided RCMs

The RCM-High Wall/High Capacity—the 331 Series was developed as our clients wanted a way to handle larger fiber capacities.  The wall heights were raised to make this possible. It can control up to 96 3mm fibers with a BICSI-recommended minimum bend radius.

3. 360°Routing Module

The 360° Fiber Routing Module-FRM Series provides a comprehensive solution by combining four standard 321 Series RCMs on an aluminum base mount. It simplifies fiber routing and service loop management with fast screw mounting onto racks or chassis.

4. Arrays – 321 Series RCMs

These can be custom-built to your needs but come in several off-the-shelf configurations. They are designed to give manufacturers faster, easier one-step cable routing and implementation onto standard racks.

Conclusion

  • Providing reliable fiber optic cable routing is essential for reliable network data transfer.
  • Fast-Drop RCM tools protect fiber from damage, avoid data loss, and simplify cable management for IT departments.
  • Data centers can increase network agility, cabling density, and dependability while supporting solid system uptime and lower operation costs.
